As he gives blessings to young people, he often senses not just their own faith, but the faith of their mothers, and how it shapes their own. This painting depicts a young warrior from the Book of Mormon, about to go into battle, drawing his courage from a mother who taught him never to doubt that God would deliver him — courage built long before the moment it was needed, through years of quiet teaching and example.
