Description
36 x 36, Oil on Panel
A child climbs into the branches of a tree, fully absorbed in the work of getting higher. Climbing is a good metaphor for growth of any kind — spiritual, personal, moral. It's rarely effortless, but it opens up a new view. Another figure sits higher in the tree, a reminder that no one climbs alone; someone has usually gone ahead and shown us it's possible. I painted this hoping to hold onto the bravery of childhood adventure, and to bring that same willing, joyful heart to the harder climbs of adult life.
