This painting explores the experience of being caught in a place of difficulty — a spiritual and emotional bramble filled with thorns, tangles, and shadow. The dense foreground suggests confusion, pain, and obstacles that feel enclosing and inescapable. Yet beyond the thicket, a clearing opens and light breaks through. I was interested in the tension between entrapment and promise — how hope often appears not as immediate rescue, but as a distant illumination that draws us forward step by step. The work reflects seasons of endurance in my own life, when clarity did not come all at once, but as a quiet invitation to keep moving toward light. Hope, here, is not denial of struggle — it is orientation toward redemption..
