The Smell of Tulips and a Blank Canvas
Description
This 36X36 inch oil painting on linen began on a day when plans unraveled and expectations fell apart. Instead of arriving where I intended, I found myself returned to the studio with less time, less energy, and a choice: to call the day lost, or to begin again with what was still possible.
The flowers are painted as an offering — a reminder that meaning is not only found in achievement, but in acceptance. When circumstances resist our designs, we are invited into a quieter kind of grace: to receive what is here, to give what we can, and to trust that beauty may still grow from interruption.
The looseness of the brushwork and the open space surrounding the bouquet suggest room to breathe, to forgive the day, and to start fresh. Viewers may recognize their own moments of detour and disappointment here — and perhaps also the gentle surprise that sometimes follows surrender. What looks like a blank beginning can become a place of unexpected light.
