A child climbs out of a comfortable bed to reach for a lamp in a dark room — a small gesture that is a metaphor for seeking truth. After I'd finished painting the books and lamp as carefully and accurately as I could, I projected a reference image over my work to check it and found several inaccuracies — which I decided to leave. It felt like a reminder that even when we're sure we're right, staying humble and open to correction can lead to clearer vision.
