This is the woman in the Bible who reached through a crowd to touch the hem of the Savior's garment and was healed. I chose a fractured, chaotic composition — layered marks, compressed figures, streaks of red — to capture both the crush of the crowd and her physical suffering. I painted this while going through a prolonged migraine myself, and that pain shaped the urgency in her reaching hand. It's meant to feel like looking through a narrow opening in a huge crowd toward one point of grace — a painting about desperation, courage, and the quiet miracle that can happen through even a small act of faith.
