I'd picked some flowers from the yard and kept meaning to finish the painting, but each day they wilted a little more, and my window to finish was closing with them. One day I finally sat down and finished it with real urgency. It's become a reminder to seize the moments life gives us before the door closes. Cancer sharpened that awareness and made me realize that there are moments we cannot keep, and people we cannot hold onto forever.
